In this article we will teach you everything you need to know to go Viral with music, but before anything here's why you should take any attention to us:
Escalium is a music marketing platform, but behind it is a team of content creators who have worked with dozens of artists and generated hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify. All of it through organic content and paid advertising on Meta Ads and TikTok Ads.
Along the way, making songs and playlists go viral, we've learned a few things. In this article we break down the exact process we follow, step by step.
1. Create a Clear Match Between the Video, the Song and the Lyrics
First things first: visual style and lyrics matter a lot. You need to pick a video style that connects directly with the song you're promoting. If the video and the music don't convey the same feeling, viewers scroll past.
What “Matching” the Video to the Song Means
The video should create the same feeling as the music playing in the background. A few examples:
Relaxing Music or Dark Ambient
If you're promoting a Dark Ambient playlist or a chill track, the visuals need to be just as calm:
Rain falling.
Someone going to sleep.
Someone driving in the rain.

Techno and High-Energy Genres
If the song is far more intense, like techno, go extreme with the visuals:
People skydiving.
Motorbikes at high speed.
Adrenaline-packed scenes with on-screen lyrics.
Lyrics Are Part of the Match Too
On-screen lyrics reinforce the message and make the video work even with the sound off. The lyric style (font, colors, animation) should fit both the footage and the genre.

2. Pick the Best Parts of the Song and Create Videos at Volume
Choose the best part of the song, or three different parts, and make lots of videos with them. One video tells you nothing; many videos tell you what works.
How Many Videos: 12 to 20 per Song
We make between 12 and 20 videos per song to find out what actually works: which visual style, which lyrics, which title and which call to action.
Which Variables to Test
If you're making 20 videos, don't make 20 identical ones. Spread your tests across several variables:
Visual Style
For example, 3 motorbike videos, 3 car videos, 3 rain videos, 3 of another style… That way you see which kind of footage connects best with the song.
Song Section
Test different parts: the chorus, the drop, the catchiest line or the intro.
Lyrics, Title and Call to Action
Change the lyric style, the video title and the call to action to see which combination drives the most views and clicks.
How to Post Them: Concentrated, Not Spread Out
This is one of the keys. We don't upload 20 videos over the next 20 days. Instead, we might post two videos a day for four days, spread across different accounts. You get data fast and spot the videos with potential much sooner.
3. Double Down.
What Counts as an Outlier
It depends on your account. If your usual video gets 1,000 views and one hits 5,000, that's an outlier. That's the signal you've been looking for.
Iterate on the Winner
The goal isn't to re-upload the 5,000-view video, but to make similar videos and improve them to reach more people.
If a Video Goes Viral
Start from that same idea and create variations.
Variations Worth Testing
The same idea with a different video style.
The same idea with a different title.
The same idea with a different song section or lyric style.
The Result: Cheaper Ads
This system has let us keep some of the lowest costs on the market for our Meta campaigns without spending much on ad creation: content that has already proven itself organically is what we then scale with paid ads.
4. Spend Less Time Making Videos and More Time Finding Formats
Making Videos Is No Longer the Bottleneck
Today, with platforms like Escalium, you can create videos for your music in minutes. With the Record Label plan you can generate up to 20 videos at once: upload your material and they're ready in no time.
What Matters Is Finding the Format That Works
Style is still very important, as we've seen, but what makes the difference today is discovering which format is working on social media and pushing it as hard as you can. Spend your time researching and testing formats, not editing by hand.

5. Set Up a Conversion System Before You Go Viral
Plenty of songs go viral on social media and then never get streamed on Spotify or other platforms. Virality without conversion is wasted traffic.
Create Your Smart Link Before You Release
Your song's smart link, free
One page with every platform, a pre-save button and stats on where your fans come from.
Create my smart linkAt Escalium we always recommend the same thing: before you even release the song and start posting, have your Smart Link ready with every platform the song is available on.
Platforms to Include
Single-Song or Multi-Song Smart Links
You can create a Smart Link for a single song or a multi-song one covering several tracks. Both can be built inside Escalium.io.
Where to Place Your Smart Link
So people know how to find your music, place it in this order of priority:
Order of Priority
1. Link in Bio
The main option: always visible and easy to find.
2. Comments
If you can't use your bio, pin a comment with the link.
3. Video Description
As a last resort, add it to the caption or description.

Reply With a Video to comments like “What's This Song Called?”
TikTok and Instagram have a very powerful feature: replying to a comment with a video.
When someone asks what the song is called, answer with a video showing how to find it: searching for it, tapping the link in bio or opening your Smart Link.
That reply video adds reach too.
Track Where Your Traffic Comes From
The Smart Link is also key for measurement. It shows you exactly how much traffic you're sending from Instagram, TikTok or any other network to Spotify, and which UTM each visit comes from. To build your own UTMs, you can use Google's Campaign URL Builder.

Make Data-Driven Decisions
With that data you'll know whether to focus more on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube instead of spreading your effort blindly. Combine it with your Spotify for Artists stats.

6. Separate Your Artist Account From Your Clip Accounts
Your Artist Account
This is your shop window: your style, your visual identity and your relationship with fans. Don't fill it with tests.
Your Clip Accounts
We recommend creating 1 to 5 accounts, especially if you're just starting out, where you'll only post videos and edits of your songs. That's where you test at volume without affecting the image of your main account.
